Since this is a speedrun community I think it might be pretty interesting to talk a bit about other speedgames as well. Have you run other speedgames if so what is your time? Are you planning to learn / currently learning a game? If you have can you recommend a particular game for a newby and do you have informations about it (easy routes/skips for beginners)? Personally I've started to learn a variety of games last year / this year which include Megaman X , Megaman 3 , Super Mario 64 and I'm currently looking into SMB3. I've only fully learned MMX yet since i like to switch between the games to not burn myself out but have yet to complete a full run of it. MMX is definitely a game which i can recommend to someone who wants to learn a speedrun but doesn't want a to long of a learn process. It doesn't have to many stages and the game is mostly just play trough the game fast. If someone is interested I can do a quick guide about my personal route on MMX 100% which is very beginner friendly while not being to slow and without the bullshit jumps which are iceless and carpet.
Quake 1 and Half life 1 are both easily picked up if you have experience with cs:go movement, I've tried both and I personally prefer Half life. The routes of both those games are very well documented so it's really easy to pick up. I know of some other games with quake/cs:go movement and I'm pretty much interested in speed running everyone of those.
Action Henk is a great game... i thought it'd be like a 3hr play and never touch again but i still really enjoy it like 60hrs later also trackmania is fun
yeh trackmania is amazing it doesn't look like much for casual players but is so fucking optimized it's crazy
I speedrun Halo 2 from time to time, sadly there's a fair amount of rng so there isn't really such a thing as an optimized run. Also, I think I'm one of like, five people worldwide who still run it, so that kinda bites. Classic run with amazing commentary (not mine): I'd try HL2 but it's basically just clipping through walls now huh
