Please make this and the "You cannot checkpoint in mid-air" sounds optional if you could, they're very irritating sometimes and I personally have no trouble recognizing when I haven't placed a checkpoint or haven't paused Edit: Just realized nykan already basically said this but I guess 2 posts is better than 1 especially on such an important topic such as sounds :^)))
can we get clarification/examples of what this means? Would maps like natureblock be wiped, since it has 3 bind noducks? Keeping speed on each of them helps, and makes a (quite small) difference to the time, is this enough for a wipe?
Yes. We haven't decided exactly which maps are gonna be wiped yet, which is why it's good that this is a prerelease thread and we can get feedback etc, but pretty much any map where it's faster to bind something is gonna get wiped. spirit, beginner, nature etc.
theres 1 bind noduck on beginnerblock, and you can CJ it manually without losing time even with <200 speed. Plus the times are some of the most competitive of any map. I'd be against wiping it.
If we're going to be removing times that feature bind use, can we please take a serious look into adjusting times of non bind runs. People who used the bind in runs were adding 0.06 seconds worth of air time for each use, so it would only be fair to add that for each instance of people not binding in a global run. This shouldn't be too big of a task to fix up and would fix the competitive integrity of the new times.
After you decide on the maps will you be checking each of the global runs on the maps to see if the bind was actually used? Or are you going straight off of: The global time uses the bind in this map to get a faster time
Both linus and bouta said it should be wiped since bind is banned along with other maps. Also best not to insert a grey area of what is or is not wiped based off "oh these times are really good". Linus has actually been a big help in finding maps that were fairly bind dependent even though he had used bind for several maps. I hope this is a sad troll... You want us to go through every map that a binder has ever ran determine how many times they binded and add the time they had in air? What if they did a vertical jump, what about noducking an LJ that the non-binder didn't... Like I seriously can't understand this logic. You want us to punish the "legit" player for not using the bind to "even" the playing field of previous records? If the top time wasn't binded I am leaning towards not touching that map at all. I'd love for SimpleKZ or some sort of similar build like I suggested in the thread to have global support. I have many gripes with current global system.
I think the best method for now is using the judgement of the top players (like sach, linus, boutamine for example) to decide which maps are most affected by the bind. Other players should also bring it up here if they find a map they think is affected a lot as well in order to make the list of maps wipe as complete as possible. Obviously wiping every map isn't the greatest idea - and even though there will definitely be maps that slip through and aren't wiped (because how effective the bind was on them will pale in comparison to other maps) it is a consequence we will have to deal with of having the bind banned in runs. The priority should be wiping maps with records that would be infinitely harder (near impossible without an insane amount of luck) to beat without the bind. Wiping all maps would need to be considered with the introduction of new movement settings (simplekz) for example, although I'm not sure what the plan of developing that is, whether it will ultimately replace the current settings or become it's own global 'mode'. I don't like the idea of splitting kz into two main 'styles' with different settings because I think the community is already too small and it would do more harm than good.
That'll ruin all the jumpstats, and every server owner will have to reset or never have them beaten. also what's the point? It's not like jumpstats are global
Also going for tickperfect jumps while LJing is more likely than during runs because you want to minimize speed loss during pre of an LJ for max distance. Also nulls and -forward can't currently be blocked in-game so it does nothing to legitimize LJs, IMO (wish all could be banned obviously)
real question tho: did anyone actually join the server and test the changes? we made this thread for actual feedback on the ingame feel of the bind change / any bugs that might occur.
