1.87 Beta Test Servers: NA kztimerglobal.com EU 137.74.224.238:23015 Within this update we have implemented a bind fix, to make in-game lj bind nullified during runs. Meaning you no longer get the increased height while using the LJ alias of “+duck; +jump”. This bind is still available to use while map timer is not active to allow for jumpstatters to continue using it. The extra height is removed by nullifying tick perfect crouch jumps (CJ). To obtain a successful CJ (increased jump height by up to 2 units) there is a small window before jumping that a crouch can be done. Runners that currently do CJ no-ducks and crouch jumps greater than 64 units already use this timing window to perform successful CJs. False positives are entirely possible but are most likely to go unnoticed as you will still get the same height as if you crouched 1 tick after your jump command (standing 55 height). As a runner and a #fuckthebind enthusiast I honestly already performed my crouches purposefully before the jump command to make my CJ no-duck combos as consistently as possible. Just by principle hitting that timing window before jumping (it is several ticks) is more accurate and consistent than going for that exact same tick as jumping. You can see how this bind fix works in practice below: The rest of the changelog can be seen below: Added an IPCheck for Global bans & Reviews Added a small delay to team joining (0.75s) Added a small delay to pausing after joining a team (0.1s) Added a small delay to unpausing after pausing (0.4s) to prevent unintentionally unpausing while trying to pause Added an error sound for pausing mid-air & pause delay Fixed booster exploit Coloured pause delay & pausing mid-air messages Fixed an issue where if you finished paused, the pause time would get added to final time Fixed an issue where global records would still count after reconnecting Fixed a macrodox bug Added a command to check map's difficulty (!tier), Also a help page (!tierhelp). Tier info chat messages are disableable through kzadmin or cvar kz_tier_messages !mapinfo now functions as !tier does
I didnt see how the bind fix works. I just saw a 1:03 minute video about how Sachburger is able to do the natureblock combo w/o bind while listning to interesting music
The video was to show how it doesn't change how the game will play, the bind fix itself is similar to what @DanZay did in SimpleKZ. Also please be constructive and civil in comments.
Nice, about time. Are there any plans on removing -w? Also when I have checkpoint sounds disabled could I not get the buzz from cping in air (and now pausing). Or atleast another option to turn that sound off, thanks.
Yeah so was any forethought put into how this was going to effect records or was it just its going to remove the bind in runs so lets do it?
going through this now and been talking with many people. Currently my thoughts are when bind was used to significantly increase speed of combos, such as noduck combos (for example kz_spiritblock). This type of thinking would follow our previous removal of times abusing pauses.
And one persons hours of effort for a rec is more valuable than anothers because they didn't bind? If that many records are going to be removed, it might as well be all of them.
Yes? Getting a faster time for doing something that's easier isn't a big deal to you? Like Burger said we're strictly wiping maps where it was faster to use the bind than to not use it. Any time you go for a noduck combo legit you gotta crouch a bit before you jump for consistency reasons, this means that you aren't keeping as much speed as when you do it tick perfect (bind) and therefore you're losing time for something that's a lot harder and legit to do than simply pressing 1 button. This is the current approach we're taking as it's a purely objective way of thinking that makes it completely black and white to wipe maps. There's no reason to wipe every single map in the game as some maps are completely unaffected (or atleast to the point where it's negligible) by the bind. The other approach would be to wipe every map where the bind has made it easier to get the record (not time wise), but that's a lot more of a grey area and has too much subjectivity to be a good approach. Plus it would be a huuuuge wipe.
This means basically that height boost gets removed in runs using the bind but -w remains. So the only thing this update removed is the height thing which helps you get a little more distance which is for the most part useless in runs but it removed highjumps on further distances being easy. That's like the only plus I see as the -w still remains to be used and therefore the longjumps stay consistent but are simply a little less far, which shouldn't be a problem at like any maps. Also learning the height trick takes max a day so meh. I'd rather see -w removed from the bind in runs, or actually both feature removed from it in runs. Binds should only help in the lj room for the pbs. Other bugfixes seem fine to me.
Yes -w still exists. It doesn't have a solution to the problem yet. So if anyone does have one feel free to post one in discord or steam message someone in the global team
Did you even read the post or watch the video? This is mainly for the noduck combos that make it FASTER to use the bind in runs, not necessarily EASIER (although that's another great bonus). -W and nulls would be banned too if there actually was a solution for them, this is atleast a step in the right direction.
