No server should be whitelisted before it's stats have been cleaned up. I would have thought this be a requirement at least? Especially if no timestamps are currently stored with jumpstats.

Pretty much spot on. Whitelisted servers are whitelisted for a reason and should be cared for appropiately. If server owners wish to become whitelisted, they can clean their jumpstats up (easily AFAIK, rip hoc1 jumpstats LUL) and become whitelisted. Easy peasy.

Ok so we agree that at very least: global rules should be enforced on any servers that have been whitelisted, regardless of whether or not they are currently global via !globalcheck.

Even though I already sorta replied to this topic, I think you're waiting on a verbal cue to continue the discussion - so yeah. Definitely agreed. I don't really think anyone would be strongly against that logic. Like I mentioned earlier, I think defining this also needs to be accompanied by rules set to ensure that server owners are actively managing their servers in order to maintain global whitelisting standards. There should be a very generous time period given to server owners in which they should fix the issue(s) that are causing their disconnection from the global database. After a certain point, which of course wouldn't be up to me to decide, a negligent server should absolutely be stripped of its whitelist status. There shouldn't be any reason to continue granting global status to a server which is not going to be playing any foreseeable part in global kz competition. I'd be curious about your thoughts on this idea @Chuckles @Zpamm .

(Just noting that I'm only following up only on what @Chuckles asked specifically, since I know that @Zpamm is not for changing the rule.)

The only issue with this is that we'd have to spend a lot of time tracking this. However, when we get to the API we can do this automatically and expire API keys that haven't been used in a period of X time.

Sounds good to me, I wouldn't expect all of this stuff to be done instantly. With the new KZtimer version coming up, I bet a lot of positive changes could be made.

Oo, I should have re-read his response closer. I'm glad to hear that stuff like this will be possible eventually through the API. If, through the API, you guys can eliminate the foreseeable problems that Zpamm brought up, then I think it would be extremely nice to change these rules.

Since it's clear that the vast majority of the kz community has a belief completely opposite of the rule,
(I'm judging this simply off of what I've seen with discord reactions to recent events, people in servers chatting, and the heaping amount of jokes regarding stuff like "now do it on a global server")
I personally see it very important to rewrite the current rule to one that's more logically sound, backed by API data, and fits the existing community outlook.

It's apparent that very few kzers are aware that global rules apply to non-global servers, and efforts to educate everyone on this are unlikely to ever fix the confusion due to logical conflicts and communication barriers. I feel that if the rule stays as it for the future, there are probably going to be a lot more players barred from our community who haven't necessarily committed an offense that is anywhere near the severity of the resulting consequence. Before anyone jumps onto me for saying that, I want to specify that I believe a global ban should result only from cheating in the global competition (cheating of any type on a server linked to the global database). I would hope that anyone who reads my post understands the purpose of that wording.

I posted a lot in this thread, but I figure nothing else is needed from me since I've stated my views and asked the questions I needed to. Thanks @Chuckles and @Zpamm for responding to consider changing the rule, bringing up the obstacles in doing so, and brainstorming possible solutions. I guess all that's left is to wait and see what happens with the API, as well as let any other forum members also post how they feel about it.
