Global Map Release – 20/02/2017

    These maps are being removed due to a variety of reasons that the map testing team and I formed a consensus on in order to bring the current map pool more in line with current mapping standards. These maps are extreme cases of low quality design, optimisation and poor gameplay that often resulted in lower playtime in a map, and in some cases the map became unplayable for players. I will quickly outline what each map’s extreme issue was:
    • Kz_alouette – invisible walls, TP zones misaligned, poor design
    • Kz_caverns_deep_go – wall SC, poor design
    • Kz_farm – bind skip, optimisation, bad design
    • Kz_jumpspace_easy – bad texturing, bad design
    • Kz_motivated – bad texturing, bad gameplay
    • Kz_nuckfoobs_n01 – bad optimisation, poor design
    • Kz_portal_1 – bad optimisation
    • Kz_rise – bad optimisation, poor gameplay
    • Kz_teh – unfinished map
    • Kz_village_lp – poor design and TP placement
    • Kz_zeta_z3 – poor design, optimisation, gameplay
    Any mapper involved with these maps can feel free to adjust their map and re-release the map if desired. The map will be re-tested in these cases.

    The console command for hosting a workshop map is:

    host_workshop_map <file id>

    OR

    +host_workshop_map <file id> in the launch options of a server

    I've also started maintaining the global approved maps on mega, so if you are missing a map maybe check that out if you can't find on workshop.

    Will the xc_karo4 time wipe include recent times done after the pause in air fix, or do the recent times also use this but through menu? Seems dumb to wipe if that isn't the case.

    I am fairly certain the global times are done with pause in air exploit. Feel free to prove me wrong.

    Any chance of anyone fixing caverns and alouette? Caverns especially is genuinely pretty good without most of the skips.

    Having trouble with kz_life. Doesn't seem to generate a usable nav file. I've tried generating a new one several times and still doesn't work. Instantly changes to another map after spawning. Happening both locally and on server.

    Uhhhh what? Can you give some actual reasoning behind any of these? Skips is not a reason to remove a map. Some of the skips you are pointing out actually increase the skill cap on some of these maps.. Also how in the world does lavablock have bad gameplay

    i dont mind lavablock. but this map is actually disliked by a lot of people in servers that i knowed. skips in fabrik and prismus just a lot and too big.

    and i cant understand kz_rise. Though its bad optimisation but not bad gameplay. Most of people loved that map in every chinese servers. I also think combos in this map are not bad.

    Did they like it because it had good kz? Or because it had some quirky mechanic that was kinda fun for a bit

    What the fuck... I was just debating improving by a couple second, RIP me.

    Also doesn't 8bo use pause spam on retribution pro or is that in reference to something else?

    The maps removed seem pretty arbitrary to me honestly. I don't understand why kz_farm or kz_rise should be removed if there's plenty of people who do enjoy the map and want to play it? I thought both maps were fun to play and the argument 'poor gameplay' or 'poor design' to remove them is ridiculous since it can be pretty subjective and there's plenty of people who find them fun.

    If there are people who want to compete for the best time on a map and the map isn't obviously broken beyond belief then why remove it?
    If you are arbitrarily removing maps why don't you remove every other map that's broken in some way since almost all of them are? As Fafnir said why don't you remove kz_sanctuary now because it has a broken skip at the start?

    kz is a community mod and the maps played shouldn't be dictated by a select group who add or remove maps based on what they think a kz map should be. If there's people who want to compete on it then let them. How does it harm you for Gimpys (or whatever his name is) to have a global on kz_farm ? He obviously enjoys running the map and getting the best time on it and now it's just removed because it doesn't fall in line with your idea of what a kz map should be?
    Sach are you going to continue removing maps until the only ones left are ones you personally like to play and have globals on?
    Hey we should remove 7in1 as well since the majority of kz players literally despise that map and it has terrible design, but wait doesn't one of your friends like that map a lot? Better keep it.
